Over the past few months I've been working for GOLDOC, the organising committee for the 2018 Gold Cost Commonwealth games. My role as a Venue Photo Manager was to look after photographers covering basketball matches at the event along with assisting the Venue Press Manager in the venue media centre. We received an astonishing amount of training for what seems like a simple role however with some venues expecting up to a hundred photographers at a time it was understandable.
In the end the competition ran smoothly and Australia unsurprisingly won gold medals in both the mens and womens competition. It was a great experience working with so many other professionals in their fields and something that I'd love to do again in future big events.
